CHALLENGE
Understand patient experience cycle through an exam visit. Explore the difference in generations that may change the exam experience for patients. Create a review of past medical office buildings for GBBN. Compile and document patient and staff flow to create an evidence based design approach for future medical office designs. Observe patient and staff flow and collect feedback on the work space flow.
NURSE VIEW BLOCKED. The perpendicular desk blocks the visual and physical flow of the whole back nurse stations. If the designer consulted the nurses and how they collaborate with each other a different design could have been more successful.
RESULTS:
Through this research UC Health Trenton was redesigned with this information as the driving force. The general practitioner office now accommodates all ages in the waiting room.
